A Statement of Ethical Practice

The practice of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is grounded in a commitment to high ethical standards that
prioritize the well-being and dignity of individuals while ensuring the integrity of the field. The following ethical guidelines serve as the foundation for professional conduct in ABA:

  1. Respect for Autonomy – Practitioners shall respect the rights and autonomy of individuals receiving
services, ensuring their informed consent is obtained and that they are active participants in
    decisions regarding their treatment plans.
  2. Beneficence and Nonmaleficence – ABA professionals must always act in the best interests of
individuals by promoting positive outcomes and minimizing harm. Treatment should be based on
the most current, evidence-based practices, and interventions should prioritize the individual’s
quality of life and overall well-being.
  3. Competence – Behavior analysts must only provide services and interventions within their areas of
competence, based on their education, training, and supervised experience. Continuous
professional development and consultation with others should be pursued as needed to ensure
    high standards of practice.
  4. Integrity and Professionalism – ABA professionals should conduct themselves with honesty and
transparency, upholding the highest level of integrity in all professional interactions. This includes
maintaining accurate and timely records, avoiding any form of deceit, and presenting information
in a truthful and clear manner.
  5. Confidentiality – Behavior analysts are obligated to maintain confidentiality of all sensitive
information related to the individuals they serve, ensuring that data is shared only with appropriate
consent or as required by law, and that confidentiality is respected in all forms of communication.
  6. Social Justice and Equity – Behavior analysts are committed to promoting fairness and equality,
striving to serve individuals from diverse backgrounds and ensuring that all individuals have access
to the highest quality of ABA services, regardless of socioeconomic status, race, gender, or
disability. See our diversity statement below.
  7. Collaboration – Practitioners shall collaborate effectively with individuals, family members,
caregivers, and other professionals to promote the best interests of the individual receiving
services. Collaborative practices are essential for developing holistic and individualized
interventions that reflect the values and priorities of the individual and their support network.
  8. Accountability and Professional Responsibility – ABA professionals are accountable for the
outcomes of their interventions and must regularly evaluate the effectiveness of their practices.
When necessary, practitioners should adjust strategies and seek out supervision or peer
consultation to ensure continued ethical and professional conduct.
  9. Cultural Sensitivity – Behavior analysts shall demonstrate respect for and sensitivity to the cultural
contexts, values, and preferences of the individuals they serve. Interventions should be tailored to
the individual’s cultural background and personal identity. See our diversity statement below.
  10. Advocacy – ABA practitioners have a responsibility to advocate for the individuals they serve,
promoting access to services, education, and resources that support the person’s goals, dignity,
and rights. This advocacy should be pursued through ethical means and in a manner that supports
the overall development of the field.
Our senior staff are required to take ongoing courses approved by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board
in ethics as well as other topics to maintain up to date knowledge in the field of ABA. By adhering to these
ethical standards, applied behavior analysts commit to maintaining the trust of the individuals, families,
and communities they serve, while advancing the science and practice of behavior analysis in a responsible
    and compassionate manner.

Diversity Statement

At Apex Autism Therapy, we are committed to building an inclusive and equitable organizational culture
where diversity is actively celebrated and integrated into every aspect of our operations. As a provider of
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services, we understand that our workforce and the services we deliver
should reflect the diverse needs and experiences of the communities we serve.
To ensure we foster an inclusive environment, we focus on the following key operational priorities:

  1. Diverse Recruitment and Hiring Practices: We prioritize diversity in our recruitment process by
actively seeking candidates from various backgrounds, experiences, and identities. We believe that
a diverse team brings a wider range of perspectives and improves our ability to meet the unique
    needs of each client.
  2. Cultural Competence Training: We provide ongoing cultural competence and diversity training to
all our senior level team members. This training equips our supervisors with the tools to
understand and respect cultural differences, adapt services to meet the needs of diverse clients,
and foster an environment of inclusivity and to pass these values on to those they supervise.
  3. Inclusive Client Care: Our commitment to inclusivity extends to the services we provide. We ensure
that our ABA interventions are personalized to each client’s individual needs, acknowledging and
respecting cultural, linguistic, and familial differences. We engage in open dialogue with clients and
families to understand their values, ensuring that treatment plans are culturally relevant and
    accessible.
  4. Supportive Work Environment: We foster an organizational culture where every team member
feels valued and supported. We regularly assess the workplace climate through surveys and
feedback mechanisms to ensure employees feel empowered to voice concerns, share ideas, and
contribute to a culture of respect. We offer mentorship, career development, and leadership
opportunities to individuals from all groups to ensure equity in advancement and professional
    growth.
  5. Accountability and Continuous Improvement: We recognize that creating an inclusive and
equitable culture is an ongoing process and we use feedback from both clients and employees to
continually improve. We are committed to adjusting our strategies as needed to ensure that we are
meeting our DEI goals and that our efforts are making a meaningful impact.
At Apex Autism Therapy we believe that embracing diversity and fostering an equitable environment is
essential to providing the highest quality of service. By embedding these principles into our operations, we
create a workplace where all employees can thrive, and where every client receives compassionate, individualized care that reflects their unique needs and experiences.
